Main advantages

  • The innovative flame retardants are effective both in the solid and the gas phase of the combustion process.

The phosphorus based CSE-96 flame retardants show a fire resistant effect by producing phosphoric acid compound when the treated material is exposed to high temperatures. The acid formed promotes charring of the treated material during exposure to fire. The resulting char reduces flammability by insulating the material from the fire, thereby reducing flame spread and penetration. The CSE-96 flame retardants make the charred surface layer hard, uniform and thick.

The nitrogen component in the CSE-96 flame retardant is subjected to endothermic decomposition when the polymer is exposed to high temperatures to form an inert atmosphere and to absorb heat from the polymer, whereby a fire resistant effect is shown.

The surfactants in the CSE-96 flame retardant solution increase drastically the capillary activity of the products which allows rapid adsorption of only a few seconds, penetration at a faster rate and to a greater depth and improved immobilization of the flame retardants into the polymer matrix compared to other similar products. As a result the aesthetic qualities of the fire retardant treated materials are preserved – there are not slightly deposits of salts crystallization or residue on the surface of the polymer.

The increased capillary activity of the innovative flame retardants allows the use of more efficient high speed equipment for material fire protection by the continuous processes.

  • Prevention the emission of toxic fumes in the presence of a source of ignition.

Toxic fumes are frequently more dangerous to humans than the fire which would result in the absence of the fire retardant treatment. The flame retardants should not only reduce substantially the flammability of the material, but the material should also be safe to human occupants during flaming conditions.

The building codes in the European Union and USA restrict the use of fire retarded polymer materials with high smoke developed indexes. The CSE-96 flame retarded materials are with low smoke developed indexes.

  • Low heat release when contacting with fire sources.

Materials having a low heat release rate are advantageous in that once they are exposed to fire they release less heat to the neighboring materials and diminish fire propagation. The CSE-96 fire retarded polymers release less heat when contacting with fire sources than the untreated polymers. As a result the fire will not get out of control and will be easily extinguished.

  • The CSE-96 flame retardants impart fire resistance through impregnation of the materials without changing the quality indices, including physical, mechanical and chemical properties of the impregnated materials.
  • The products meet all the requirements of safety and hygienic working conditions abiding by the instruction for correct use.
  • The innovative flame retardants are ecologically appropriate and environment friendly.
  • They are biodegradable.
  • The flame retardant is harmless. It has no acute toxicity to mammals, neither by oral, dermal or inhalation exposure. It is also not classified as a skin or eye irritant. There are no indications of allergenic or mutagenic potential.
  • The product is non-hazardous – for transport and application.
  • Extra storage life.
  • The CSE-96 flame retardants are with wide application range.
  • They are applied for hydrophilic and hydrophobic porous polymers and their blends – natural and man-made textiles (curtains, damasks, carpets and others), wood, paper, corrugated board, leather, polystyrene, penopolyurethane.
  • Wide range of application methods: soak, immerse, spray, padding technique, brush or roll, plasma enhanced impregnation.
